Phone zap! Malik needs our help!
Malik is currently being held in solitary in a cell with no bed, no blanket, no shirt. They took all his property away. He’s got a slipped disk in his back and previous shoulder injuries and cannot be sleeping on the floor without a bed. They’ve also been blasting the ac in his cell nonstop and it’s freezing. He’s been on hunger strike 2 days, and will continue until they give him a bed, a blanket, and his property back.
Script & Numbers:
“Hi, i’m calling on behalf of Malik Muhammad. I am deeply concerned to hear that he is being held in a cell with no bed, no mattress, and no shirt. He has a slipped disk in his back and this is a medical emergency. I am echoing his demands that he be given a bed and mattress in his cell right now.”

Some things:
1) Be assertive, but not overly combative, the point of the call is to get through the entire script. We are attempting to force odoc to respond to Malik’s needs by imposing external pressure and flooding their lines of communication.
2) You don’t have to disclose any more information than you want, and you do not have to respond to any of their questions if they ask for further identifying information on the phone.
3) If they inquire about your relation, you can say: “I am calling on behalf of a community of people who are concerned after hearing about Malik’s condition.”
